Fall In-Service is going to look a bit different this year than in years past because it’s going to be entirely virtual. But that doesn’t mean it will be any less useful in helping to prepare you for the semester and maybe even teaching you some new things that will help you be more confident in your online teaching abilities.

Inclusive Design – Lara Tompkins and Becky Benkert
In a semester where most, if not all, content delivery will take place virtually, access and inclusivity are more important than ever. Join us to learn simple, proactive strategies you can use now to help remove barriers to student success. We will discuss best practices and available resources you can leverage to continue teaching with care in a virtual environment.
What’s New in Blackboard
Come see what’s new in Blackboard this fall! We’ll show you how to use the new Annotation tool to provide grading feedback , some new Attendance features and some new Collaborate Ultra features as well.

ILP Grading – Pam McGowan and Learning Technologies
Beginning this fall, grades and verifications will be entered using the Ellucian Intelligent Learning Platform (ILP) tool accessible through Blackboard. This session will demonstrate the use of the tool to enter Roster and Midterm Verifications along with Quarter, Midterm and Final grades.
VCM Best Practices – Mike Maxse
Looking for tips and strategies on how to optimize the webinar experience for you and your students? In this session we’ll explore and share strategies on how to best prepare and deliver engaging virtual class meetings.

Collaborate Ultra – Tim Sweeney
Collaborate Ultra is Blackboard’s easy-to-use, web-based, interactive conferencing tool. In this session, we will cover creating a session, sharing content, creating recordings, using chat and breakout group functions and more. Participants will see both the instructor and student experience as we explore this engaging Blackboard course tool.
Instructor Presence – Becky Benkert and Gabi Frahm
In a semester where you likely won’t see your students in person, what can you do to engage with students in a virtual format to let them know you’re there? We’ll cover some strategies and Blackboard tools you can use to enhance your presence, and connect with students in a meaningful way, whether you’re teaching an online, hybrid, or VCM course.
